Watersports - sailing and canoeing on Derwentwater along with other outward bound courses

Fishing in the River Derwent or Watendlath Tarn which is stocked with trout

Wildlife - the River Derwent runs 100yds from the house and deer and red squirrels are reqularly seen in nearby woods 

Pubs - Scafell Hotel (1/2 mile) has a lovely hikers bar with open fires and good bar meals

Eating out - Scafell Hotel, Borrowdale Hotel (4 miles)Langstrath (1 miles) Yew Tree   

                     (2miles) plus many good restuarants in Keswick

                  - Grange - (3 miles)an easy walk for lunch or high tea

Shopping - Keswick (7 miles) has an excellent supermarket and a good selection of shops
