Peat Howe Barn is a beutiful detached barn conversion in the delightful Borrowdale valley. This house has been used by our family for more than 20 years. Children in our extended family have enjoyed playing by the River Derwent which runs just 100 yards from the house, and roaming the fields and woods of the valley. Our eldest children are now experienced walkers.
The house is situated in Longthwaite which is a hamlet of 6 houses, near to the village of Rosthwaite. In Rosthwaite there is a small shop, and a lovely walkers pub which serves good evening meals. A few miles from the house is the Honister slate mine, which has an interesting museum and tours of the mines.
Great walking from the house - you need never get in your car
Seven miles away, is the town of Keswick and lake Derwent Water. Here it is possible to explore the town and visit the market ,many walking shops and places of interest, and take boat trips around the lake.
